Why does the format of my Calc document change when I open it on a different computer?

I have a Calc document set to print on one sheet of paper (A4).

When I copy the document to another PC, the formatting of the Calc document changes and my document flows onto a 2nd A4 sheet.

The 2nd computer uses ubuntu 11.04 and LibreOffice 3.3.4

Any help is appreciated!,

Thanks a lot.

Hi @hunglam75,

The changes you’re viewing could be attributed to a number of different factors, including font availability.

  • Are the fonts you use to create your document installed on the 2nd machine?
  • What version of LO are you using on the 1st machine?
  • Do you see the differences if you use print preview, or only if you physically print the document?

Update:

  • By any chance are you saving your files as XLSX?

We’ve experienced some issues with formatting in the OOXML formats not round-tripping very well.

  • Is it possible that the settings you’re using to make your document fit on a single page are computer-specific?

That is, perhaps you’ve made some tweaks to your local printer config on machine #1 and that’s what’s showing the difference?

One final question/test:

  • What happens if you create a document on machine #2 and send it to machine #1 – does the formatting change in that case? (and if so, how?)

@hunglam75 – How goes the testing?

  • two computers uses ubuntu 11.04 and LibreOffice 3.3.4, same font.
  • I can see the differences when in preview mode and print to printer

let me try
