Ctrl F - Find

When Ctrl F is pressed in Writer the Find and Replace facility comes up. I can get rid of it by pressing Escape but if I forget, when Writer is started up again it comes up as a default. The only way I can get rid of it is by going to the View menu, Toolbars and unclicking Find.

This is annoying! Can you help please?

That is the default key combination for Find in all LibreOffice applications.

To modify this keyboard combination, open Writer, open menu Tools, Customize, click on the Keyboard tab, then on the LibreOffice option (top right corner), scroll down the Shortcut keys list until you find Ctrl+F and press the Delete button. Press OK to Save.

Resolved. From your answer, I noticed that Ctrl H is “Find and Replace” and brings up a box. This is exactly what happened in OpenOffice when I used Ctrl F. In LibreOffice Ctrl F brings up a toolbar which can only be removed by going to view, toolbars, and unticking Find. Many thanks.

If you are satisfied with the answer, mark it as Correct so that it is considered answered

Correct. Thanks.

I meant clicking on the green checkmark to the left of the correct answer. Thanks!

@Pedro1 – I don’t think he has enough karma to have earned the power to pick a correct answer.

@qubit1 - I think you don’t need karma to mark as correct, only to upvote (at least it’s not mentioned in the FAQ). That would not make sense. It’s bad enough as it is. Users don’t realize they have to mark as correct for the answer to be considered answered…

@Pedro1 – Ah, okay, it looks like the 50 karma requirement is just for selecting your own answer to your own question. I had a user run into that particular problem earlier, and we both were powerless to solve the problem.

Just press +F and then .
