I've just, based on my previous post , introduced Chapter numbering.

The numbering for the headings however do not follow, they appear as follows: 1. Introduction 2 Methods 1.1 Overview 1.2 Design

Headings 2, Overview & Design, should b 2.1 & 2.2 respectively. I have verified that both the Introduction and Methods are Heading 1.

Any suggestions ?

Make sure that you remove any links to numbered lists in the heading paragraph styles because those may interfere with the chapter numbering. So, in the paragraph style dialog window, tab Outline and numbering, make sure that Numbering style is set to None.
