Can't find libre after install

Installed LibreOffice_5.4.1_Win_x64 in W10. I can’t find it. Install went OK, but program didn’t open, not in start menu, and can’t find in program folders. I ran install again and still no go.

thoughts?

Needinfo.
Did you accept ‘create desktop Icon’ or similar during install?
Did you accept the creation of file associations, probably also for MS-Office file extensions?
Did you look into your C:\Program Files\LibreOffice 5\program\ and find soffice.exe there?
How much time did the install take to run?
Did you install LibO first time or did you an install for update?

First time install. I chose the default install. No choices. I didn’t time install, but seemed normal and was expecting program to open. Install made it to the finish dialog. The program folder is NOT there.

This morning I attempted to reinstall and installer crashes. I can’t UNINSTALL anything now because Libre is not to be found… or at least not anywhere it should be. What a mess.

Very strange. Sorry! Not being an OS expert, I am afraid I cannot find a (the) solution without sitting at your controls, at least. Probably A rights problem?

You didn’t answer my questions concerning “desktop icon” and “file associations”. These steps missing would indicate a fudamental problem with the installer.
Where did you get the installer msi from?
Did you install as admin? For all users or only for the logged-in one?

  • Yes, very strange. I download from Libreoffice.org. I chose “typical” install - nothing custom. Installed as administrator.

I downloaded again and attempted install again. Installer crashes.

Lupp, I need a bigger answer.

I just tried installing a totally unrelated program and can’t because in spite of rebooting, I get an error stating there’s another installation in progress.

I need some serious help with this now.

Sorry. Wrongly tried to force something unwanted on you?
I also run Win 10 and I install most of LibO releases and sometimes also developer prereleases. None of these problems here. I had serious problems with Win OS updates, however.
If your system refuses an unrelated install, the only (hopefully serious) advice I can give is to look for help in the Win world (forums or professionals). You may start with entering something like “Win 10 pending install” ino a friendly search engine.

I thought Libre was the problem. It was not. It was Windows Installer. Your mention of problems with Win OS update clicked as Windows updated this past week. I suspect that’s what broke the installer. Libre and other program installed no problem after following directions on following page.

Big thanks!
