Add background colour to text

Hello,

I am trying to find if there is any way to add background colour to text (characters), not a whole paragraph.
In their help menu, it says:

To Apply a Background To Text Characters

  1. Select the characters.
  2. Choose Format - Character.
  3. Click the Background tab, select the background color.

I checked Format > Character, but there is no background tab…
I need this feature specifically because one of my colleagues wants background colour; hence, I cannot substitute this by highlight.

Does anyone know where I can add background colour to text?

Thank you for your help.

P.S.

I also tried copy & paste format (clone formatting) of text with background colour that I added and created on MS Word and opened on LibreOffice. This actually worked out, and when I converted it back to docx file and opened on MS Office, clone-formatted text was shown with background colour, not highlight effect. Therefore it must be there somewhere as a feature on LibreOffice, but I could not find where.

Hello @SaraWillow,

the tab used to be called "Background", but nowadays it is called "Highlighting".
Hope it helps, lib

Thank you Lib. So I assume “Background” to text has been ditched?
As I said on my post, I need “Background”, not “Highlighting”. I know they both work in the same way so it may sound stupid, but I need them separately for others.

Thank you anyway.
