How do I get Page orientation to work

At the end of each month I’ll double check to make sure all my software is up-to-date I am running high Sierra the latest Mac OS and I did the latest update to LibreOffice for mac I wrote a letter the orientation was vertical or portrait print preview showed it as vertical or portrait but when I went to print it came out horizontal or landscape just in case I missed some global override Setting I printed from several other Applications quicken, Pages, Notes I also printed a spreadsheet from LibreOffice deliberately in landscape and it printed fine I can’t print a text document in LibreOffice in portrait why?

When I go to check for updates from the pulldown menu LibreOffice “quits unexpectedly”

Throughout the last several versions of this software I have noticed that the buttons in the preference screens are partially hidden by the borders of those windows please help with any of the above

I came up with two workarounds on my own they saw the printing part of the problem but not the other two issues

workaround number one

  • select all
  • copy
  • create a new “Pages” document
  • paste and print.

Workaround number two

  • I found a Libra office archive sound aversion modifying in March 2017

I will use it until another working version is produced
