Is the latest version of Java (Java SE JDK and JRE 9) compatible with LibreOffice 5.4 when using databases and tables?

I’m trying to use the database component of LO and it doesn’t detect Java even though it’s installed. I’m using Java SE 9 JDK and JRE 64-bit on a MacOS Sierra

Hello,

The is an open problem with Java 9 - Bug #112551. This should be repaired in next releases. You may want to try Java 8.

Please note: Mac must use JDK.
