what happened to assigning keys? I use to assign “columns” to f4 and now I can not find where I can do this.

Not exactly sure what you are referring to when specifying “columns”. Key assignment is done through the menu Tools->Customize... on the KeyBoard tab.
If you are looking to insert columns in the document, this is under Category ‘Insert’ & Function ‘Section’. If you are looking for table columns, this is under Category ‘Table’ & Function ‘Delete Column’ or ‘Insert Column’ or ‘Select Column’.
@windyh As my answer indicated, and your comment does not specify, it is STILL not clear as to what you are referring to - Table? Document? Something else?
Also, you don’t mention which LO version you currently have and which version you previously did this in.
