I am new, just installed Libre. I get when trying to save a calc or writer file error message like above.
Or error ‘write protected’ you can open a copy and open for editing and then save in a new file name.
Consequently I get a new file for every editing.
Please explain how to overcome this mess.

What operating system are you using?

Hi sorry for the long delay. My Op system is win10.
Looking forward to your reply.

I am using Linux, so I really can’t help with MS Windows. I would look into how file ownership is assigned in MS Windows, who “owns” the file, and whether the file “owner” is the same as the “user”. Also check for who has read/write permissions for the file.

Try to use " save as "-button to make a editable duplicate

Windows 10, Libre Office 6.3.6.2 x64, perpetually occurs over many updates.

Error saving the document XXXX_document:

Workaroud 1) Start Libre Office as Adminstrator.

Woraround 2) Install Libre office into your user filesystem, or somewhere, where are you have full access without restrictions. I.e. not install into default location (C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\LibreOffice 6.3) or another system folders.

Go to tools>option>advance>Button:open expert config>search for uselocking set org.openoffice.office.common\misc to false this should work

My answer from Installed 7.1 yesterday; today MS Office is non-op applies.
The problem of being able to write once then no more is typical of AVG/Avast anti-ransomware blocking LO.

Wrong post by me.

Thank you. This works fine; no more error displays for insufficient rights.
