Notebookbar makes buttons unreadable dark

See the attached screenshot. Whenever I enable the notebookbar view in LibreOffice, all the buttons get really dark and because of that unreadable. I’ve just installed a fresh version of Ubuntu 17.10. Before this, I ran Ubuntu 16.04 also with the newest version of LibreOffice currently available. That gave me no problems. But now I can’t use the notebookbar because of the dark buttons.

It’s a common problem, occuring in writer, calc, etc.

Is there a way to fix this?

Hello,

Just switched over to Ubuntu 17.10 Mate to see what you are talking about. I can verify what you are seeing when I change to Notebook bar. However, this is not a LO problem. It is Ubuntu settings for appearance.

In Ubuntu, go to Control Center. Then select Appearance under Look & Feel. Then choose a lighter colored Theme. You may have to close & reopen any LO docs which are open to see result.

Many thanks! I couldn’t find the Appearance settings in the default ubuntu 17.10 (gnome) settings, but I found it in the Gnome Tweak Tool. I had to change the ‘applications’ setting from ‘ambiance’ to ‘radiance’ and now its a lot lighter and readable. Again many thanks :).
