while using Libre Office 5.3 [with win 8.1] it slows down to nearly a stop, taking 10 to 30 seconds to respond to a keystroke. This was occuring with LibO 4.* so I updated to newest, 5.3, the same thing is happening.
Well, unfortunately your report looks … incomplete, and lacking essential information.
First, the header states a problem in 5.3, giving an impression that you describe some kind of regression, but later you write that the problem is the same as in much older version. (Btw, didn’t you test 5.4?)
Next, you don’t describe any circumstances. What you do to bring SW to a halt? Without this, the message is useless.
And also: if it’s a bug, report it to bug tracker.
Thank you Mike for your comment. I am a complete newbie & ignorant as to technical stuff. The problem occured while typing in Writer. Nothing specific seemed to trigger it, just that after a while, it slowed down. I usually have Mozilla running at the same time as using Writer. Stopping it made no difference. After a few hours use, despite clearing the 350Mb cache, Mozilla itself slows up. I thought it might be because I was using an old version, so upgraded to what seemed to be the newest.
