Who are the contributors

On the main forum page, there is a heading called “Contributors.” Underneath that are pictures. Some of the pictures are of very attractive people, while others may be horrifying. In any case, I am curious who they are. Presumably, they are currently online but what distinguishes them?

Ordinary people like you and me! Most are users proud of using FLOSS and willing to share their enthusiasm. Others fell like teaching good tricks hoping to demonstrate that non-profit applications can be as good and efficient as pure commercial ones. Very few of them are developers, because these are overloaded with bug-fix tasks (and it is better to spare them time so that bugs are fixed in due time, though it is always too long for those who suffer from said bugs).

Anyway, contributing means reading questions and answers and results in one’s improvement in LO usage. This, at least, is highly beneficial to contributors.

I hope they are not people like me! It sounds like they know a lot more about what they are doing.
Anyway, what is FLOSS? How do they become contributors? You are great at answering our questions, so why isn’t your lovely picture there?

Free and open-source software - Wikipedia. Become a contributor by asking/answering a question or adding a comment. The image is an avatar and is optional - see your control panel by clicking your user name at the top of the page.

Ah, now it makes sense. I was not trying to become a contributor but finally checked what seemed to be the empty boxes and see that there is one for me.
There are several things about this forum that it would be helpful to have more information about. For example, are there fabulous prizes (other than good luck) for the people with the most karma?

Thank you!

Yachts, sports cars, expensive perfume…

As Charlie Brown once said; “doing a good job around here is like wetting yourself in a dark suit - it gives you a warm feeling but nobody notices.”

There is no prize for Karma, but contributing to this site may earn you a noticable recognition in the form of a “Proud LibreOffice Contributor” sticker, which has today been awarded to @robleyd and to many others on this site, Congratulations All :D!

Others including @librebel Congrats also from me to all thus honoured

I think these Contributors refer to all registered users who have contributed in any way to the current list of questions on that particular page, either in asking a question, commenting, or answering. They are not necessarily online at that time.

If you hold the mouse over the icons, you can see the names of the Contributors; if you click on an icon, you go to their corresponding user page.

I saw the names of the people with avatars but didn’t think to check the empty boxes. I didn’t think that I was a contributor but now I see that I am. Yahoo!
