MediaWiki account login problems

We have here a local MediaWiki server. It uses a domain reference for the logon account name which is different to the user that is currently running the LibreOffice writer.
How does one get the logon to work when the user name has to have the domain on the front? i.e.

UserName: domain.notlocal.com\user
Password: ########

It work in the MidiaWiki area, as it has a drop down box under the password entry of the domains it recognizes.
Would it not be better if the MediaWiki Account area also had this and worked ?

Hi @coghlans,

It’s possible that the MediaWiki integration in LO could support this “domain reference” with some minor tweaks.

I tried to find information about a “domain reference” in relation to MediaWiki user login, but came up empty. I also checked a couple of MediaWiki sites and didn’t see any drop-down box for domains on the login page (e.g. the LO online help).

Are you using any special plugins/extensions for MediaWiki?

No Idea, just a user of the companies system, And cannot find via “Special pages” anything that states what plugins have been installed on to MediaWiki. As for external websites - these should not have a domain box anyway, as that’s is (normally) for internal users (i.e.Intranet)

Hi @coghlans – We could try filing an enhancement bug for LibreOffice, but without information on what mechanisms or extensions in MediaWiki are supporting the “domain reference,” the developers might not know where to start.

My guess is that you’re using LDAP, ActiveDirectory, or similar for authentication. You might want to poke your sysadmin and ask them for info about the login/auth system in place. They might even be able to help us get LO working with MediaWiki (are they a fan of FOSS?)

@coughlans - Did you find an answer to your problem? Still looking for a solution?

Thanks.
