LiberOffice Sluggish to open and close files

Not sure why LO 5.4.3.2 takes for ever to open and close files, not mentioning the long views at the hypnotic disk while saving commence. I am using a MacBook Pro with macOS High Sierra 10.13.1, 2.6Ghz i5 CPU, 8GB DDR3, and an SSD drive. It’s not a slow device, so what can I do to improve LO’s snappiness? MS Office for MAC is much faster than LO, why is that? I am using writer, calc, and impression and the sluggishness is across the board even though the files are only text based.

You are not alone. All of the current versions that I have tried preform poorly on a Mac. I went back to 5.2.7.2 which has all the features I need and has good performance on my Mac. Since the performance issue seems to be in the code I known of nothing that will correct the issues you are having.

Between the font rendering issues and the poor performance this software is slowly becoming unusable.
