LibreOffice lock files and Dropbox

I use Dropbox for collaborative work between Windows workstations. One of the use is to share LibreOffice documents. Concurrent editings are normally forbidden by LibreOffice by creating a lock file like : “.~lock.notes code.odt#” for the file “notes code.odt”. However, when I edit a file, I see this lock file locally, but not in the Dropbox web interface, and my coworkers do not see them in their own Dropbox.

I know this might be more dropbox than libreoffice related, but I would have like the feedback on libreoffice users on this issue, and if a solution exists.

A good point, I want some kind of file locking or indication also. I would propose to automatically create a copy upon opening a file with an extension “original”. But it’s perhaps to far fetched?

@elvinz,

Looks like it’s a known issue:

Kludgy workaround:

Sounds like something that Dropbox needs to address, but haven’t bothered to fix yet.
