F-key in Writer to provide fixed text?

Using Writer to record info about a project. Some of my responses are about a line in length and never change. Is there any way to assign a phrase to a Function key? Doesn’t have to be a function key, but I’m using the clipboard, so the phrase can’t go there.

That’s a perfect task for an AutoText.

  1. Select the phrase to be “stored”
  2. Go to Tools → AutoText (Ctrl-F3)
  3. Provide a “name” to the phrase, let’s say Phrase 1 and a “shortcut”, let’s say phr1
  4. Accept

Now on any document type phr1 and then press F3.

You can define as many AutoTexts as you need and you are not limited to text: tables, objects, frames, anything is possible.

The answer you provided seems to be great. That statement sounds like “weak praise”, but I don’t mean it that way.
I’m a Mac person, and my present (and definitely current) version of LO seems to want to fail upon saving an AutoText, and on retrieving. However, that is not your problem.

Thanks much for a great solution.
