wrong date in calc

Hi,

in work in my office i have a computer with windows 10. I have a libre office. Earlier i had windows 7 and everything works fine. When i changed to windows 10 i have a small but very annoying problem.

In office we have shared drive and files. So, when i put in report or table etc a date in format “day.month.year” for example 05.01.2018 other people in my office of course see it but…in format “month.day.year” for example 01.05.2018.

In my computer I have a correct date, other people have wrong. In setting everything seems fine. I have correct format “day.month.year.” My friends also have this format in settings.
Could you help we? What would be wrong?

Thx

Cells that have ‘Default’ language will display automatically formatted dates in the default date format of the locale set for the LibO the document was opened with.

Set the document language explicitly. Don’t accept a language setting
like Default - English (SomeCountry).

Set date formats explicitly. Best use one or more a specific named cell styles for cells containing dates.
Don’t use automatic formatting whereever you can avoid it. (It’s also a mess in different cases.)

If possible at all, abandon the usage of the stubborn USA date format for all members of any cooperating groups.
Strictly prefer ISO 8601 conforming date formats, in specific YYYY-MM-DD.

That might be bug 113889 that is related to XLSX and is fixed in 5.4.4.

@mikekaganski: Will the supposed bugfix affect the statements in my answer? The basic behaviour described there is not related to an OOXML issue.

Your answer is fine, and will not suffer from that bug or the bugfix. If user’s problem is not the bug I mentioned, your advise will apply nicely.
