F.INV and FINV functions

I use Libre Office Calc Version: 5.1.6.2 and I have two seemingly equal functions in the list of statistical functions: F.INV and FINV (yet can’t add screenshot). F.INV works as expected while FINV works as F.INV.RT. Function descriptions for FINV and F.INV at the online documentation are identical, except of Example section — it is common for FINV and F.INV.RT. Why are there two functions doing (seemingly) the same thing and why are their names so obscured?

FDIST, F.DIST, FINV and F.INV are defined in OpenDocument format, F.INV.RT and F.DIST.RT are defined by Microsoft for Excel. The “INV”-functions are the inverse of the “DIST” functions. You need to look at the “DIST” functions for to get the definitions.

It is

FINV = LEGACY.FINV OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) Version 1.2 - Part 2: Recalculated Formula (OpenFormula) Format

F.INV = FINV OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) Version 1.2 - Part 2: Recalculated Formula (OpenFormula) Format

FDIST = LEGACY.FDIST OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) Version 1.2 - Part 2: Recalculated Formula (OpenFormula) Format

For using the f-distribution see a statistic textbook.
