How get color changer to work in Draw?

I want to change the background color in the attached image from light blue-gray to white. When I select Tools–Color Picker, nothing seems to happen, other than that the image moves slightly.

No new toolbar or palette appears and I would expect the pointer shape to change from the move mode to a precision select mode (to specify the color to be changed), but it does not change.

Is this the way the color picker is supposed to behave? If so, how can I point to the color I want changed and select the color I want to change it to?Gym schedule.odg

Hello @catbill,

i changed the color to white using the menu Tools : Color Replacer in Draw (LO Version 5.4.2.2 ).

Selecting that menu will open the Color Replacer window.

Click the Eye Dropper button, then move over your image to select the color under the mouse.

Then set the Replace With... color and click on the button Replace.

Thanks, Librebel. With your confirmation that it should work in a straightforward way, I investigated a bit farther and figured it out. In case others run into similar problems, here is what I did.

I thought that maybe I had missed something on a toolbar, I closed all bars on the View menu, including all toolbars. When I tried to open the Color Replacer again with everything else closed, I saw a slight jiggle on the left side of the screen and finally noticed that there was a small triangle

in a small bar, just like for the Sidebar on the right. Sure enough, when I pulled it out, it was the Color Replacer window.
I am used to working with Writer and am not familiar with windows that appear automatically on the left (I know that they can be docked anywhere we want, but we need to see them first)
Anyway, it is working. In the future I will know to look on the left side for windows that don’t seem to appear.
Thank you for your help.

Good job @catbill
and thank you (+1) for adding the extra information solving this case, that might help other users who run into this problem.
