follow modification

asked 2018-01-26 11:07:34 +0100

We can follow modifications and delete word (colorful and barred word) or add word (colorful and underlined word).

  • If I copy (ctrl-C) a sentence with words deleted and words added,
  • if I go in an other software (for example indesign),
  • sometimes (and random) when I paste (ctrl-V)
  • I get a good sentence (deleted words not present and added words present)
  • or I get a bad sentence (deleted words and added words all present)

Why ?

(I tried this way in openoffice but I got a good sentence every times)

Thanks for your help !

Have a nice day

If a document has tracking changes mode on, every change will be recorded. You will see the deleted, changed, and added parts. This is useful when you work in teams and expect others to review your changes.

OP's question seemingly is about pasting in another application. It is then about what's in the clipboard (maybe several versions of the same snippet: plain text in final version, ODF with changes in XML, …) I think it is related to clipboard technology (OS-dependent) and to implicit choice of the other application.

In the beginning, what does LO store in its clipboard and what is transferred to the OS-clipboard?

Thanks but my question is about - in a revision mode - the behaviour of a copy and paste of a modified sentence (with part deleted and part added) from libreoffice to an other software

Thanks Ajilittoz, but i don't think it is related to clipboard technology because openoffice have a good behaviour in this context

That OpenOffice has good results doesn't necessarily mean that this is not related to clipboard technology: they could simply not provide some clipboard formats, so other applications could have less choice over available formats (just a possibility).

OK Ajilittoz, in response to your interrogation about the clipboard, i tried to copy paste the clipboard in a new libreoffice document and (in this case) he paste every words (deleted or added) in the initial order of the sentence.
