mail merge manual

Just wondering if there is any good manual or instructions on how to use mail merge. I know how to do this in ms office and managed to get my first job done in Libre 5. I am however somewhat confused by the steps to be taken and the number of files being created and suspect I am not doing this the most efficient way yet. I have a standard letter with variables to print each week and need to use a different spreadsheet for this purpose. In office I just look for the latest spreadsheet, link it and be done.
