I’m having trouble generating an Index on Writer. I configured paragraph styles and defined my chapters as Heading 1, 2, etc, but when I try to insert an Index, only its title comes up and I have no idea about what’s wrong.
Do you really mean “index” or do you want to generate a table of contents? Heading x are meant for table of contents and there is an easy way of generating it.
Through Insert > Table of Contents and Index > Table of Contents, Index or Bibliography… right? Been there. My problem was not having assigned the outline levels.
Edit your various Heading styles and on the Outline tab make sure each is assigned an outline level.
