Why can't I delete a Libreoffice extension?

I installed the LanguageTool extension for LibreOffice but instead of adding the extracted file, I added the .zip folder. Now I can’t delete the extension. I always get this error message.

(com.sun.star.lang.IllegalArgumentException) { { { Message = “Medientyp konnte nicht ermittelt werden: file:///C:/Users/Georg%20Bauer/AppData/Roaming/LibreOffice/4/user/uno_packages/cache/uno_packages/lu8892b8tjf9.tmp_/LanguageTool-4.0.zip”, Context = (com.sun.star.uno.XInterface) @2b334ef2cd0 } }, ArgumentPosition = (short) -1 }

How can I delete this extension?

What you tried to install was not a LO extension but a standalone version of LanguageTool. The extension is an .oxt file. That is why LO can’t neither use it nor remove. Now, delete everything from the extension directory (in your case, it is C:/Users/Georg%20Bauer/AppData/Roaming/LibreOffice/4/user/uno_packages/cache/uno_packages/) and install LT (once again, it is a .oxt file, not a .zip, thus, re-download), as well as other extensions as necessary.

Thank you, gabix! I had the same problem with a different extension. This solution worked for me. I’m so grateful!

I have done this, but then when I try to re-install the extension I get an error message that the folder I deleted does not exist. Duh! It doesn’t make sense. How do I solve this?

OK, I had to delete uno_packages.pmap too. Then I could re-install the extension I wanted, but I still can’t use the extension. The buttons are greyed out.
