If I copy and paste formatted text into a LO text document, how do I strip the formatting? I do not see a “save as plain text” option. Thank you.
There are a number of ways “to strip the formatting”, “save as plain text” is just one of them. And in that regard, your question is ambiguous: do you intend to save file as plain text (.txt) - as your question’s title implies; or do you want to strip formatting (but not necessarily save as plain text format) - as wording of the question body suggests.
To strip formatting when pasting, you just use “paste as Unformatted text” (use Paste button’s drop-down for that, or use Ctrl+Alt+Shift+V in recent versions).
To strip formatting from already inserted text, select it and use Format
-Clear Direct Formatting
(Ctrl+M).
To save as plain text, just select File type Text (*.txt)
in Save As dialog (that’s the “save as plain text” option that you didn’t see).
On my machine the hotkey is Ctrl+Shift+V.
