Display fonts too big on Calc under MacOS

Using Calc under MacOS, the display fonts are way too large. With the zoom setting at 100%, the height of a 10-point Geneva capital M in a Calc cell is 12 pixels. The same character in Font Book is 8 pixels. That’s 50% too big, and it makes LibreOffice look like a Playskool toy in comparison to other MacOS applications.

If I reduce the zoom level to 65%, I get a display font that looks about right, but now the rows are too short for the row label font, which is now close to being cropped. The labels certainly fade into the rule lines.

This image shows LibreOffice Calc at 100%, at 65%, Font Book, and Excel all with Geneva 10pt.

This is not a new problem with LibreOffice 6; I was just hoping that it had been fixed with this big release.

How can I get LibreOffice Calc to look better?

I have the same problem. The fonts/cells are way too big compared to other programs in MaxOSX. I have reported this problem before, but support says they can’t replicate. I can’t understand how they can not replicate it. I have installed LibreOffice on a totally new MacBook Pro, I have installed it on multiple other machines and they all have the same problem. It MUST be possible to replicate.

Still no fix for this. I can report that it’s the same with OpenOffice, so it looks like something that’s a generic problem with the GUI toolkit.

I have exactly the same issue with one of the most recent stable versions of Libre Office (6.4.7.2). MacOS Catalina 10.15.4 on MacBook Air 11" (screen resolution 1366 × 768 px).

When reporting to Libre Office, always include details about your hardware and software, it may be happening on these lower-resolution screens, for example. Hopefully, they’ll be able to reproduce this issue since it’s pretty annoying and so many people are experiencing it.

I asked about this also here.

I just want to bump this, because there has been a lot of new releases: even major ones, but this issue (which is one of the biggest imho), is still not fixed.

The issue still remains for me also, and looks just like the example image given by wfaulk.

This problem is still exist unfortunately. Fonts are more bigger than in Excel. What in Excel is 100% in display that in Calc is 200% however there is 100% set in both app.
