English language pack...where is the download?

I’ve tried everything I can think of to get LibreOffice in English. My system OS Windows 10 is in Spanish which I can barely read which means all of the various menus are in Spanish and virtually unusable. I tried selecting LibreOffice download for English but on installation it is in Spanish. I tried finding an English language pack, no luck there either.

At this time, changing the computer OS to English is not an option. What are my choices to get LO in English?

Go to Herramientas → Opciones → Configuración de Idiomas → Idiomas and pick Inglés from the Interfaz de usuario drop down menu

After clicking on Aceptar LibO will ask you to restart the application.

Thank you for getting me to the correct place but Spanish is the only language offered. The drop down list has no other languages listed. Apparently I need to install an English language pack but have not been able to find it. I’ve searched Google but the results keep leading me back to installed the LibreOffice software, not language packs.

Well, that’s strange: LibO is offered as a base EN version + language packs so it should show the English version there. I don’t use windows so I cannot help you more, maybe the windows installer is different. Let’s see if someone with windows experience can give you a hand.

English is always available as one of the UI languages on any platform. It’s a fallback option when some other language is missing. So, look once again.

Well - despite it’s a fallback, it’s not displayed unless you select it in the installation process. So - you need to use add/remove programs and modify the installation, and select English UI in the installer, so that it would appear in the list.

Firstly, as you have Windows 10 you could get a spanish-speaking friend to add English to your Windows installation without removing Spanish; you can find the procedure on the web (I’ve never done it myself). Regardless of the interface language you can declare any keyboard you like.

I work in French and English on machines running French Windows. I can choose the LO user interface language on the office machine (Version 5.3.7.2). However, the portable is in a situation like yours, offering LO only in French (it’s Version 5.0.5.2). The English interface is needed for confusing my students and for getting the vocabulary right when discussing bugs and enhancements.

The only explanation I can think of could be that LO on the portable might have been downloaded from the French site https://fr.libreoffice.org/ - I don’t really know because I’m fortunate enough not to notice which language a site is in.

Anyway, unless someone can find the elusive language packs, I’ll wait and see what happens next time I get round to doing an update (from the international LO site…).
