How can I stop windows defender from preventing soffice.bin making changes in my documents folder?

I have found plenty of advice about how to do this (by allowing controlled folder access) but in the latest windows 10 the on screen options have changed and I cannot find a way of preventing Windows Defender from blocking my attempts to edit libre office files. Surely I am not facing this problem alone?

Do a settings search for “threat” maybe? I don’t use Win Defender since I don’t trust MS to be able to do anything right. But I found Defender under Settings>Update&Security>Windows Defender. Turning it on briefly opened a new window. I would assume it is under Virus and Threat Protection there. Other than that, you may want to check with the Win10 support site.

Thank you PaulaO. I want to choose which apps (such as LibreOffice) are trusted apps that can make changes within protected folders. The option to “allow an app through controlled folder access” appears to be just what I need. This leads to a screen with a + sign for adding allowed programmes. I have added soffice and swriter, but I still cannot save or print LibreOffice documents. I see there are a total of 22 “applications” within LibreOffice. I wonder if I need to add all 22 to the list?

Just add c:\PROGRAM FILES\LibreOffice\program\soffice.bin
