How can I prevent data loss when saving my XLS file in Calc?

Many times, when i open a xls file within calc for editing, during editing continual pressing CTRL + S for save. but when i open this xls file again, i lost parts of saves! and i dont know from when, the save is not work, finally, the edited xls file has become mess.

Great attitude! But I feel your frustration. Could you try saving to ODS format instead and Save as to XSL only when necessary? For LibreOffice XSL is a lossy format. So does ODS work for you?

@suckers - Frustration is understood. But what is the cause of the problem?
Please make the test @mahfiaz proposed and inform on LibO version and OS.

We do not know what is the language interface, and the shortcut keys are localized. It is possible verify what are the actual shortcut keys in Menu/Tools/Customize/Keyboard and for LibreOffice or Calc.

Good point. He could be not saving at all. Suckers, does it show a progress bar when you save?

Sorry for offensive title that i originally posted, and thanks to Qubit for revise it. i apologize.

After several times Save Losing my mood was bad yesterday when i post this thread.

My os is Ubuntu 12.04. the original version of libreOffice is 3.6. i upgraded it to 4.0, but this issue is still here.

I tried, this issue was not gone.

does it show a progress bar when you save?

Yes. every CTRL+S i saw the progress bar appear on the bottom. the Confirm Dialog only pop up on first time i press CTRL+S after i open it, even though i checked “Ask when not saving in ODF format”.

thanks for all the reply, i appreciated.

Could you please be more specific about what gets lost. And could you please upload your file somewhere (http://www.filedropper.com/ maybe) and add as short and simple steps about adding data and how exactly to save so that this bad behaviour would happen. So we could try to replicate your steps and see what goes wrong.

@Peaceful,

If you’re still having an issue here, please file a bug and provide a list of steps that can reproduce your problem. The QA Team will be happy to help you track down this issue!

Please post a link to any bugs you file in a comment below using the format “fdo#123456”.
