Can I add LibreOffice applications shortcut to desktop/task bar?

I want to open Writer / Calc with one double click!

If you are using MS-Windows 7, find the LO component you want (Writer or Calc) in the Start menu list, right-click on it and hold, dragging the icon to your desk top. Release and choose “create shortcut”. That probably works with other Windows versions too. If you are using Ubuntu Linux, start Writer or Calc in the normal way, then right-click on the icon that has appeared in the desktop task list and choose “lock to sidebar” (I think that’s what it says but I don’t have Ubuntu on this machine to double check). Other versions are probably similar.

If using Win10, open a blank document in the application you want.
Right click it where it is in the task bar. Select “pin to taskbar” to, well, pin it to the taskbar.

To make a desktop shortcut, open Start menu. Find the LO folder. Right click the application you want. Select More then Open File Location. Right click and drag the file to the desktop then release. Select “copy here” since it is already a shortcut (it opens the location of the shortcut in the start menu folder, not where it is within the program itself.

Second way to make a desktop shortcut is to go to the LibreOffice folder in the Program Files (or Program Files (x86)).
C:\Program Files\LibreOffice\program
In the program folder, find the application you want, right click and drag to desktop, select “Create shortcut here”.

To create a desktop shortcut I opened the LO app from the start menu, selected the application (Writer /Calc etc.) and dragged it onto the desktop.
