LibreOffice - list with recently used fonts missing?

Hello!
My questions is actually a feature i would want LibreOffice to implement it in future releases.
It would be very useful to have a list of the last 5 fonts used, because when I open the fonts drop-down, there is always the list and I have to scroll or type in order to get my font. It would be very very useful for simple users like me to have a mini-list with the last 5 fonts recently used.

If there is already this function, how do I check it to be ON?
Thank you!

The FORMATTING TOOLBAR gives this function. It shows the most recent five FONTS selected on the top of the font selection. It also gives other formatting options.

The Toolbar can be turned on and off on my system by selecting VIEW > TOOLBAR > FORMATTING.

The Formatting toolbar also gives direct access to the STYLES selection, the current applied style as well as STYLE UPDATE and NEW STYLE creation. Hence it is a good way to migrate up to the use of styles as suggested by @ajlittoz.
I personally usually use the Writer with the formatting toolbar activated, but I only use styles not direct formatting.

Thank you!
SOLVED thanks to your answer, petermau!

I would not encourage you in this path (playing with the most recently used fonts) because it looks like you’re heavily “direct formatting” your document.

Instead you should learn how to use styles. The font is part of the definition. One big advantage occurs when you change you mind about it (or any other attribute): you change it inside the definition and it propagates to all styled paragraphs.

For your convenience, LO Writer has a side pane with the Used Styles where you can easily pick the one to apply to the current paragraph.

Caveat! “Direct formatting” is offered has a quick-and-dirty tool to experiment with layout or discover LO Writer possibilities but it overrides settings in paragraph styles, causing unforeseen behaviours for newbies. You should convert to styles as soon as possible.
