I can not find out how to get sub-numbering to work. I need to have the main number with a sub-number below belonging to the same field. There is the main idea then below there is a break down of the main idea that has sub-numbering related to the main number. The style the sub-numbering is not relevant to me just as long as it relates to the main idea
I don’t understand what you mean. Give a clear example of what you try to achieve.

To do this, go to “2.” and Increase Indent. Then go to Format → Bullets and Numbering → Customize. Select the second level and change Show sublevels to 2.
