I would like to add fill in blocks to a PDF. Is there a way to make text boxes fill out able?
There are two types of Text Box that can be inserted into a Drawing. The Text box used for inserting text into a Drawing, using the Menu Insert > Text Box. This is the normal way of putting text in a Drawing. It cannot be used for a user to fill out when exported as a PDF.
You need to insert a Form Text Box. This is done from Menu View > Toolbars >Form Controls. Click on the Hand pointing to “ON” to select Design Mode. Click on the icon “ABC” to select a Text Box and draw it on the Drawing. Set the position, size etc and then click on the hand icon to turn design mode off.
When exporting to PDF in the General tab, on the right hand side under General, click on “Create PDF Form”. If you hover over this item it will show - “Creates a PDF with fields that can be filled out”.
