How do I move a textbox that I've put on top of a rectangle?

This seems like it would be a simple thing.

I created a rectangle. I created a text box in the middle of the rectangle. I decided I wanted to move the textbox to the edge of the rectangle. I can’t figure out how to do that. I figured I would have to select it first, but all I’m able to do is select the text in the textbox, not the textbox itself. I read something about clicking on the border of the textbox, but that doesn’t appear to do anything.

Did you group the rectangle and the textbox?

I placed a rectangle. I then placed a textbox on top of the rectangle. I entered the text of it. I didn’t intentionally do any sort of grouping.

Hm. What I just realized is if you have rectangle selected and you click on icon for adding text box – you end up with writing text directly into rectangle. Think it’s a bug. If that’s not what happened to you, select rectangle and hit tab button to select text box. If no text box is selected that way, then you don’t have it on the page. Hit F5 and in Navigator try to choose “all shapes” radio button and see how many objects do you actually have on slide.

Quoting @Kruno; “Think it’s a bug.”
It may also be intended - or implemented this way acting on some silly “enhancement request”…
The ways software development is “controlled” beyond any clear specifications are fathomless.
Anyway you can break the unwanted adding of text to the just created shape by hitting ‘Esc’ in advance of selecting the textbox tool. or by clicking into an unused area to deselect the shape.

Hi

The way you can select text boxes and change their content is determined by 2 options.

See:

With the option unchecked I do not reproduce any difficulty to select a text box drawn on another form.
