while editing docs on Windows 10 I have to restart following a permanent freeze on libre office while writing docs

Have you tested with a clean profile Menu/Help/Restart in Safe Mode.

I’m having the same problem. The same problem with 6.3x and now with 6.4.4x both on on an x64 machine with 16GB ram. I wish The Document Foundation would sort this out. I used to donate regularly when using LibreOffice on Ubuntu where i had no problems at all. They really need to sort this out.

Did you have a look in the windows event viewer (eventvwr) in particular Windows Logs, Application?
