Date input using symbol "/"

I set cell properties to date format DD.MM.YY then enter date 2/4/13, it’s supposed to change from 2/4/13 to 02.04.13, but it doesn’t. But when I inpud date - 2.4.13 it’s changed to 02.04.13. Is it possible to make calc change date from 2/4/13 to 02.04.13?

P.S. This works in Open Office and I’m used to input date using numpad.

Ok, I found the answer:

It looks like this is a feature, not a bug. :)) So not recognizing too many strings as date instead of text. To customize what is accepted as date, you can set with above settings.

@froz yeah, I have to admit there have been times when I enter something and it’s turned into date and I had to change cell properties to text. I edited the date acceptance patterns and now it works as I wanted it to
