How to manipulate windows after window maximised in Mac OS X

Running 6.0.4.2 on Mac OS X 10.11.6 - if I maximise a window, it loses the title bar with red, orange and green window buttons. Only way I have found so far to resize window is to save, close and reopen. Is there another work round? Does this only occur on Mac OSX?

When LibO is “maximised” in OSX – e.g., after clicking the “green” dot in the upper-left of the screen…

… these “buttons” disappear.

To access them, all you need to do is “bump” the top edge of the screen and in a few milliseconds, the menubar will glide down, giving you full access to the bar, and these buttons.
