I am looking for a way to display 2 pages (side by side) in Writer.

Microsoft Word has a read mode which displays two pages side by side on the screen. Is there a similar mode in Writer?

As petermau stated… View > Status Bar will display the status on the bottom of the window. On the right hand size choose - Multiple View … important - to view side by side multiple pages… change the view/zoom setting to 75% or lower. (It will only display one page if you have zoom at 100%)

View > Status Bar will display the status on the bottom of the window. On the right hand size choose between Single / Multiple View or Book. You can also change the size of the displayed pages.

I tried the Multi Page View and it made no change from the single page view. I even changed the document to the .odt format and it still made no difference. The Book View shows shows two pages but they are not side by side.

For two consecutive pages, follow @petermau advice. For two non-consecutive pages, you can’t

Bug 31481 - [RFE] Split pane in same window for side-by-side proof reading/ translating of 2 different files

But you can always open a second window with the same document (Windows → New window) and put both windows side by side.
