I have an MS Powerpoint file and the video content will not play on LibreOffice Impress on Windows 7. Is there anything that I can do to get it to play without needing to buy MS Powerpoint? Other people using PowerPoint are apparently having no problem with it. I can email the file to someone if that’s useful.

I will take a look at it in both PowerPoint and in LibreOffice.
Lots of people have issues with video in Impress, but so far I have not be able to get anyone to actually make the file available to test and dissect properly.
I have the same problem with Windows 10. I had the K-Lite Codec Pack Full installed anyway, but I downloaded the latest version and installed that instead. Still no change. The videos embed OK, they play in LibreOffice preview but they don’t play when the slideshow is run. They do play in VLC and in Media Player Formats tested so far: MP4, AVI and WMV. Same problem on each.
