Using ENTER to separate 2 paragraphs takes para 2 to a new page

There seems to be a bug in LibreOffice. Twice when I’ve used the enter key to separate two paragraphs, the second paragraph went onto a new page.

The first time I closed Linux and opened Windows to finish editing with OpenOffice. The second time I installed OpenOffice on my Linux side.

The next time I will un-install LibraOffice.

Has anyone a thought as to why this is happening, and/or how it can be avoided, or dorrected?

Hi Anonymous, The behavior you’re describing seems perfectly reasonable to me: Adding space between paragraphs may result in the 2nd paragraph moving to the next page, based on the layout algorithms, margins, widows-and-orphans preferences, etc. What did you expect to have happen?

Have you considered that it might be a problem in your LibreOffice install under Linux? This is obviously not a bug in LibreOffice otherwise NOBODY would be using it…

Did you try LibreOffice under Windows or assumed it would do the same?

BTW if your press Ctrl+Enter it will insert a Page Break and therefore it is expected that the following text is moved to the next page…

In Writer, CTRL+ENTER inserts a page break. SHIFT+ENTER inserts a line break.

Ups! It is Ctrl indeed. Got mixed up. In fact it’s the same in MS Word. Corrected.
