I want to have two different dropdown lists on my spreadsheet. However, I can define them and give them two different names, but no matter which name I put in the Data Validity dialog, only the first one will show up. In your sample file the source is the same for both lists: “First”
In my environment just replace with the second data range for it to work: 2drop.ods
On the other hand, for information, the named ranges are more commonly used for this than the data ranges.

Thank you for your info about named ranges–I hadn’t seen them yet. I have been using Excel for years, but only recently went to Calc. For whatever reason, changing the source today worked but it wouldn’t yesterday–I tried several times before posting the question and it just kept changing it back. .
