v6.0 and blue screen of death

Since installing version 6.0, every time I launched LibreOffice it resulted in the dreaded BSOD. No other app on my Win7 64bit machine is causing BSOD - only v6.0 LibreOffice. I have removed it and re-installed twice now … same results each time.

(I use DriverBooster to keep drivers up to date)

Anyone else experienced this with v6.0 ?

Hence, until I find & install a previous working LO version, I’ve returned to using Open Office instead.

a smart card reader issue maybe? can’t think of other cause of it; and some cryptography work was recently done that could cause LO to communicate with such readers.

Did you also rename your user profile? Because if the problem is a corrupted user profile, reinstalling LibreOffice won’t solve it.

I do appreciate BSOD is usually caused by a faulty kernel issue and probably not the actual appl in question (LO 6.0.5 in this instance). I do know my nVidea GPU is disabled as it’s faulty and am using the intel graphics instead. Otherwise drivers should be up todate.

Unhelpful I realise but launching LO this time I didn’t get BSOD, instead the “previous instance or personal settings locked”, presumably due to previous BSOD aborted launch. Very next LO BSOD and I’ll post pic of it here.

OK Mike, I now have a phone pic of the BSOD after launching LO v6.0.5. Copied to laptop ready to upload here. But no image upload facility here?

In the meantime, a 1 liner paragraph on BSOD states, “Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from time out failed.”

floris v : Thanks but no, I haven’t renamed my user profile at all. Fairly confident this is to do with LO 6.0.5 and my disabled nVidea GPU.

@Bagheera1: the image upload should be available when you edit the original question.

And it never hurts trying to reset the profile (it’s as simple as renaming it, to restore immediately afterwards, or using LibreOffice in safe mode) - but it never helps to ignore advises, however confident you are. Even negative result gives real information; even high level of confidence is just a guess.

A corrupted LibreOffice user profile can cause a great number of problems, and uninstalling LibreOffice doesn’t help because it doesn’t remove the user profile.

I installed LO Version: 5.4.7.2 and haven’t experienced any problems (as yet anyway). If my user profile had become corrupted, then presumably this version would fall over as well.

Editing this now and unfortunately no link to upload BSOD image :frowning:
(Only Bold, Italic, Link, Pre-formatted and bulleted lists available)

ps: Doh! Image upload in the “Be the first one to answer textarea”

Again: the image upload is available when you edit original question.

I assume that you have tried the internet suggestions (like removing the video card drivers, including the disabled video card then rebooting): try disabling OpenGL in Options→View.

Interesting that LO v6.0.5 unlike previous versions, appears to want to access the graphics driver though.

Anyway, I think this is wandering into a sphere not necessarily specific to LibreOffice issues.
Thanks for your help & insight though Mike
