I was able to drag & drop a picture file from explorer/file manager into an opened Calc document in LO 3.5 directly. However since 3.6, this action will execute a new Draw document window & paste the picture there instead. So I have to cut the picture, close the new Draw document, click discard document before I can paste the picture into the opened Calc document. Tested on Windows platforms, SUSE Linux & Linux Mint. Do you guys have any intention to fix these?
This is FDO#61233. I can’t answer on behalf of the developers but this certainly seems like a bug to me. I can confirm that under v3.5.7.2 the behaviour does not occur and under v.4.0.2.2 it does.
I am using 3.6.5.2 and just use Insert File button or menu Insert / Picture / From file
This works fine. (OS: XP)
But you are right opening a Draw file is strange. May I suggest that you please file a bug report? Leaving note here about the bug number would be very kind.
agree, happens too on MacOSX (10.8) versions, before on 3.6 and now 4.0,
if I try to higlight file and make copy&paste, only filename as text is inserted

Copying and pasting with Paste special selecting a image type, seems work fine.
