Windows vs Apple

Hello. I’m sick of WIN 10 updates screwing up my computer, so I’m seriously considering dumping MS for Apple. I understand that LibreOffice makes an Apple compatible version as well as Windows. I currently have the Windows version, and am wondering something. If I do switch to Apple, will the docs I created/saved in the Windows version(s) be accessible in the Apple version?

Thanks…

Thank you for your answer. You’ve given me a new avenue to explore. I’ve never used an OS other than Windows. This should be interesting. I’m guessing that the Linux version of LibreOffice will also be able to open the Windows version’s docs?

I routinely switch between Windows and Linux working in LibreOffice. No problem. However, the same document may look different due to different font rendering (even when you use the same fonts under different operating systems).

My recommendation is openSUSE Linux.

They will. But, MS produces software, Apple produces (expensive) computers. Very different things. If your current computer works good enough for you, consider switching to Linux. It’s free, and it has LibreOffice pre-installed.

Seconded for only changing the OS! But not all Linux distros include LO, so it’s best to give a recommendation. I find Kubuntu to work well as someone who rather liked the classic Windows interface.

Okay. My recommendation is LinuxMint. It’s a fork of Ubuntu and in some little aspects easier to manage. But you have the choice between some “flavours” of desktops like in Ubuntu itself. And you should invest around two weeks to get accustomed to a new OS.
