I click on the xls file and it won't open

Have not been able to open xls files; not sure what is wrong. Using version 6

Have you tried: Start LibreOffice, then open file (out of LibreOffice general screen) - did this proceeding work?

You should set mime associations for xls files to open it in libreoffice. In different OS it makes different. Ask on thematic forum about this
