heard libre is a work alike. NOT
can’t open doc or docx or write to doc files.
I cante even dave to libre format and open in word.
Ii had to save to a html file for Word to read it.
How is this closely compatable ?

As for your question: did you search the site? I think what you want to know is covered in this earlier Q&A, and probably by several others. LibO Writer reads and writes both DOC and DOCX formats, almost perfectly with simple documents; for complex documents, I find better compatibility with the former than latter. What is your operating system and version?
