LO writer: Embedded images are not shown because of Read-Error (flashing) - LO freezes

When I .odt files, embedded images often are not displayed, but instead a flashing error message (“read error”) is shown. It freezes the opened document, making it impossible to continue editing. It also impedes to work with other LO files (writer, calc, impress) and requires shutting LO down.

LO version: 6.0.6.2 x64 on windows 10.

Try it with LO-version 6.1.1.2. The inclusion of images should work better here.
