Change style in existing document

Hi,

How can I change default style in an existing doc (300pages)using LO 4.0 I select the full text and go style modify > change the font for default style > apply . It does not do anything
I want to change all text written w/default syle in the document that obviously also includes other styles, (headings etc…)
It says in documentation that you should select only the piece you want to change (it should not include any other style) this is strange then how can I manage to work on the complete document?

The key to the problem is that the AutoUpdate style option for paragraphs or frames is only shown when creating a NEW style. You can’t modify an existing style.
So one way to change the “default” style is to do it in two stages.

Starting with your base paragraph style select Styles > Paragraph > (default) Modify.
Choose AutoUpdate option, give it a new name say default1, and linked with none. Choose font options etc. and OK.

In Edit > Find and Replace choose More Options and then select STYLES replace default with default1 and style will be replaced.

After making your desired changes, I would advise going back to the paragraph default style without the AutoUpdate option to avoid unexpected surprises if you are in the habit of of manually updating styles in your document.

What is worse is that no mention of the removal of the AutoUpdate checkbox (when modifying a style) is made in the Release Notes for v4.0. Does anyone know where the details for this change are listed?

Thanks loads this is indeed the way to do it, now all my styles are under autoupdate
thanks
