When trying to add a new font to usr/share/fonts I get “permission denied” - how do I overcome this please?

The font I want to add is unthriftfirpersonal.ttf & unthriftsecpersonal.ttf

but it will not transfer, & when I look in the directory and select the file menu, several options are “grayed out”.

  • how do I overcome this please?

Try to find a $HOME/.fonts Folder, and copy those there.

/usr/share/fonts is owned by the system. Users have no write permission on it.

Either follow @cheche’s advice to add user-only fonts or use the font management utility (provided by your distro) to add fonts system-wide. Another solution is to do the insertion with sudo but watch your step!
