how can I insert new data at the top of a spreadsheet?

I’m keeping bank account records and I need to add new transaction details above older transactions.

Edit:

What I need to do is to paste unformatted text into 4 or 5 columns for 5 bank accounts. Each account.is a new sheet. The number of rows is different each time, depending on the latest transactions since I last updated… There is some process in excel where you can paste rows and move previous details down.

Put the cursor in a cell of the top row and Sheet>Insert Rows>Rows Above.

Despite the plural form in the menu item label(s), this command inserts only one row. To repeat for the desired number of rows (better this number be small because you add one at a time), type Ctrl+Shift+Y. The key combination reissues the last command.

Once you have inserted the needed rows, paste your data in the first cell.

It is possible to insert multiple rows at once using Insert Rows For example, you can select 20 rows, apply Insert Rows Above command and 20 rows will be added above the selection.

Thanks for the tip
