I have 53 tables in a book and counting.
But the default borders are 0.05 pt. they show on screen, but are nearly invisible when printing.
All help on table borders is about changing a specific table or cell.
Is there a way to change the default?
Unfortunately, no. What is called table style in latest LO Writer versions is not a “style” as is the case for paragraph, character, page, frame or list (numbering), it is rather something like a template. Once the table has been inserted, modifying the “style” has no effect on existing tables.
Maybe with a macro, but I have no experience with it.
- You first have to generate an new table, best with 2 rows and 2 columns. Apply all properties you would like… esp. the 0.5 pt border instead of hairline border.
- Then click Table menu > Autoformat > Add and name the New Style
.
For inserting new tables you have to use the Menu Table way:
- Table menu > Insert Table > Autoformat :: choose style > choose Columns/Rows
AFAIK there is no way to change the “default” style for inserting a table in Writer. (I’d appreciate if somebody knows to change the default table properties.)
Cheers
